Protection Ratings
For a pair of safety gloves to be sold in Europe, they must pass a set of stringent tests that asses their ability to protect your hands. Please view the information and table below to find out more.
EN 388
EN 388 is a European regulation governing the sale of gloves used for safety and protection. It determines the gloves performance when used whilst working in and around mechanical machinery by measuring abrasion, cut, tear and puncture resistance.
The EN 388 cut resistance test uses a single sharp implement to repeatedly pressure a glove in order to determine the amount of force required to cause visible and functional damage.
Standard | Resistance Level |
Abrasion Resistance | Level 3 |

How Do PK55 Gloves Protect Your Hands?
UCi PK55 Presswork Gloves use a combination of a patented DuPont Kevlar liner and a blend of split aramid leather fibres to provide the maximum level of cut resistance possible. This dual protection prevents a blade from cutting through the fabric and liner by jamming the tip before it can reach the hand below.
Suitable Applications and Environments
Due to their brilliant cut resistance, UCi Presswork Gloves are ideal for professions and environments where dangerous material and blades are handled regularly. Please see below for a few suitable and suggested environments:
What Is Kevlar?
Kevlar is a synthetic material manufactured by DuPont. It is a tightly woven collection of aramid fibres, spun until the bond formed between them is too tight to separate. It is used in cut-resistant clothing and gloves because the lack of gaps between the fibres means a blade cannot easily pierce or puncture it.
Are PK55 Presswork Gloves Comfortable?
Because they are manufactured in one size only, UCi PK55 Gloves have a wide, broad fit at the palm and fingers to accommodate and suit multiple different sizes of hand. They are warm and have a skin friendly lining that promotes long term use throughout the day.
Incredible Cut Resistance
A slipping blade or a misplaced hand can result in serious injury if you are not wearing the correct protective gloves. Level 5 cut resistance is the highest grade awarded under EN 388. PK55 Gloves are essential wear for those handling blades, sheet metal or other highly dangerous material.
