Performance Ratings

EN 388 (Protection Against Mechanical Risks)

  • EN 388: 3X33C

EN 388 is a European regulation governing the sale of gloves used for safety and protection. It determines the gloves' performance when used for protection against mechanical machinery by measuring the fabric's abrasion, cut, tear and puncture resistance.

Standard Resistance Rating
Abrasion Resistance Level 3
Cut Resistance N/A
Tear Resistance Level 3
Puncture Resistance Level 3
ISO Cut Resistance Level C

Read our guide to EN 388 for more information.

EN 407 (Protection From Thermal Risks)

EN 407 is a European safety regulation governing the sale of gloves and garments that are resistant to any number of fire, heat and molten related hazards. Please view the table below to find out more:

  • 424344
Test Result
Resistance to Flammability Level 4
Contact Heat Resistance Level 2 (Up to 250°C)
Convective Heat Resistance Level 4
Radiant Heat Resistance Level 3
Resistance to Small Splashes of Molten Metal Level 4
Resistance to Large Splashes of Molten Metal Level 4

So What Do These Ratings Mean?

Whilst these numbers may appear confusing, they aren't. Ejendals manufactured 7780 Gloves to marry heat and mechanical injury protection. This combination is vital for blacksmiths, foundry workers, engineers and welders because they require protection against heat and flame and also regularly use tools that can cause cuts, abrasions and punctures.

Who Can Use the Tegera 7780 Gloves?

Please see below for a few example professions and environments that we believe suit the unique brand of protection that Ejendals 7780 Gloves offer:

Contact Heat Resistance

Contact heat resistance refers to the length of time a heated object can be held before your gloves begin to become damaged. Ejendals 7780 Gloves have a Level 2 Contact Heat Resistance rating, meaning material with a temperature not exceeding 250°C can be held, carried and transferred for up to fifteen seconds.

Protection Against Flame

Also called the "flammability test", a protection against flame rating determines how long a piece of material will continue to burn after the ignition source (flame) is removed from contact with it. Tegera 7780 Gloves have a Level 3 rating in this category, meaning they will burn for just three seconds after ignition is removed.

Welding Splash Protection

Welding splash protection is vital for foundry workers, welders and engineers. This fairly self-explanatory test refers to how well a garment protects against small and large splashes of molten metal. Ejendals 7780 Gloves are excellent at this, separately withstanding over 35 small drops and 200g of molten metal before showing damage.

Unique Cuff Style

Ejendals 7780 Heat Proof Foundry Gloves use a dual "under and over" cuff style to provide wrist protection from heat related injury. Please view the picture below to see how this works:

Cowhide Leather Composition

Cowhide leather is a resilient and durable leather that is used to manufacture resolute and hardwearing safety gloves. The leather used for Ejenalds 7780 Gloves is full-grain, meaning it isn't buffed or sanded down, giving it a natural and authentic patina. Full-grain gloves are built to last, especially once coated and treated for targeted and specific applications.

Great gloves if you have really hot woodburners and need to have the door open to reload when full of hot embers. Protects back of hands from radiant heat as well as palms and fingers.
